Pike County Humane Society

Image
Hello Blogville! I'm stealing the blog from Wesley for today to ask for your help on behalf of our local animal shelter. Logo is property of the Pike County Humane Society.  In the area where I live in PA, we have one animal shelter that serves all the townships in the Pike county (twelve of them). According to Wikipedia, Pike County has a total area of 567 square miles of which 545 of that is land. That's a lot of land and area for one shelter...and this shelter is financial trouble in a big way. I'm going to pull this post directly from the Pike County Humane Society's Facebook page, because they can explain it better then I: Your Pike County Humane Society in NEPA is in fact, in the most desperate need of financial donations. We are not able to take in any animals at this time. There is no shortage of animals needing our help, needing to come in, needing homes, needing surgeries.....needing a safe haven. We take pride in how social we are, how animal

Beautiful Day, STUNNING day end

Image
Yesterday was a truely beautiful day. We spent a lot of time hanging around outside at my dad's house taking pictures. My new header is a result of that as are a host of others. I'm getting good at this modeling stuff. It was also really hot and humid yesterday, so Mom wasn't making me hang out to long in the hot sun. If I wasn't modeling for mom and we were outside, I was hanging out with Honey in the shade. Honey and I both agree...It's HOT BUT the best part of the day was the end of the day. After all that hot "and humid we FINALLY got some rain! For about ten minutes it was just as if the heaven's had opened up and rain poured down. Then it stopped for ten minutes...then it rained again for ten...and then it was over. After it was over Mom left me home with Dad for a awhile to go to the store, she said she would only be a few minutes....but a few minutes went by...and then an hour...and finally an hour and a half. Dad sent Mom and

Around the lake

Image
The community where my dad lives in New Jersey is called 'Sunset Lakes'. It's not a very large community, and really only hosts two lakes. One bigger one, and one secondary smaller one next to the big one. The larger lake is right across the street from my dad's house, and there is a nice little path around it for people to use. It's also stocked with fish so people can enjoy some catch and release fishing. It's for sure pretty to look at. What a nice view! Though however nice the views Mom kept our walk sort of quick, because when you looked under the tree shades all you could see where black swarms of annoying little gnats. This view made me go 'EW YUCK.' But quick didn't necessarily mean that I didn't get the chance to check out what some of the other dogs in the community were saying. Elvis the golden was here! Later this same day Dad, Mom and I went out for another walk elsewhere...a nice long 2.5 mile o

Something tasty this way comes...

Image
So as mentioned yesterday, today I have something tasty to share with you! Now even though we were absent from Blogville, each month the thoughtful Miss. Sydney from Chewy.com would continue to send us an email with a choice of some really tasty looking treats to try. I would be all pumped up for trying something new and yummy, and kept on hoping that Mom would email Miss. Sydney back...but she never did. Something about it not being right to accept the offer if there was no plan on fulfilling our blogging end of the bargain. Well...I DO suppose she was right about that.   So when the email from Miss.Sydney came earlier this month and Mom actually accepted...I was so very excited! Not only did that mean we were coming back but...TASTY TREATS were on the way! So...for the month of May...what treats did Mom pick? First off...they really sounded really good...with lots of great-sounding things on the bag like this: Natural, USA made, Nutritious, Delicious AND grain fre

Just want to say...

For everyone's words, hugs, margarita offers and just general support.  Until just recently I honestly didn't realize how much I actually miss (and I'm sure will always miss) my father. So just thank you one and all. Your words and support really do mean a whole lot. I promised a fun and light-hearted post after my previous one...and I know this doesn't exactly fit the bill for that but...forgive me? For tomorrow...how about some yummy food talk?

You are missed, Daddy.

First, let me say I'm sorry for this post, but I'm taking the blog from Wesley today.  With this blog I try very much to keep it fun and carefree. Today though I am having problems getting into that particular mindset. So, instead of trying to force myself into it, I'm just going to let it go.  And I apologize for that. Two months ago, on Friday March 13th my father passed away. Him being so sick these past months and that event are the reasons that Wesley and I went away from Blogville for so long in October and at the beginning of this year.  I like to tell myself that I'm at peace with his passing. He was so sick, and always hurting and it was hurting myself and my sister to watch him as he was...because there was nothing we could do to help him.  All we could do was sit back and worry, and he just loved to tell me 'Amanda, stop worrying so much!' It was something he told me at least once a day as I worried over him for so

Enjoying the day

On Thursday it was so nice out that Mom and Dad and I did out first little hiking trip together of the season! I lead the way, of course! Lots of good smells around. Check out me in action! It WAS pretty hot out, and my hair right now it's pretty dense and long-ish, so Mom made sure I had plenty of water stops. This is Mom's favorite picture of the day, Me and Dad, forging the way forward!

Whoopsie...

Mom and I did a little spring exploring yesterday in the woodsy area behind my poppa's house. It's not overgrown yet so it's easy to walk through. There's a little pond there and mom wanted to see if there were any turtles or ducks hanging around that she photograph.  Well with the way mom was tromping through the dead leaves and whatnot the ducks that were there heard her loooong before she even got close and took off, if there were turtles they were gone by the time she got close as well.  Which left just me and mom and the pond.  And there was this nice little slope-y rock there I thought to use to get in closer to inspect the water... ...well, I may have underestimated the slope-y-ness of the rock and gotten a wee bit to close because a moment later... And with the edge being to steep I couldn't get myself out. Which of course gave mom the time she needed to get pictorial memory of the moment before she helped haul me out.  I did my best to shake off the muck an
