Hiking in the Gap

Image
Not to far from our stomping grounds is the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area . It's a really pretty area, and I've driving through it numerous times in my life. I've always said that I wanted to do some of the hiking trails that wind throughout the area, and today seemed like a good day. Our little hiking party consisted of myself, Wesley and Chris. The blue dot trail was VERY uphill.  Unsurprising...considering it was us climbing the mountain! Of course...Wesley made sure to leave plenty of pee-mail all along as we went. When we realized we were finally hitting the top and it was almost time to start heading back down! WOOHOO! Treeline! This was the view from the top of the mountain. That's the Delaware river there on the right, and on the other side of the river is Pennsylvania. A picture of me and Wesley at the top. I took the picture just above from where we are sitting in the picture below....

Around the lake

The community where my dad lives in New Jersey is called 'Sunset Lakes'. It's not a very large community, and really only hosts two lakes. One bigger one, and one secondary smaller one next to the big one. The larger lake is right across the street from my dad's house, and there is a nice little path around it for people to use. It's also stocked with fish so people can enjoy some catch and release fishing. It's for sure pretty to look at. What a nice view! Though however nice the views Mom kept our walk sort of quick, because when you looked under the tree shades all you could see where black swarms of annoying little gnats. This view made me go 'EW YUCK.' But quick didn't necessarily mean that I didn't get the chance to check out what some of the other dogs in the community were saying. Elvis the golden was here! Later this same day Dad, Mom and I went out for another walk elsewhere...a nice long 2.5 mile o...

Weekdays walks

Lately Momma and I have gotten back out and walking again! This is a very exciting awesome thing, because the weather is perfect for it and all the trees are showing off such pretty fall colors. We've even gotten to see a waterfall ((which was kinda wimpy, actually. Momma hadn't realized just how little rain we've had this past summer until seeing the falls by her house and how not-roaring they were.)). Here are some pictures from the walks we've been taking this past week.  Little help, momma? My leash got caught on a rock! Oh sure, take this moment to take another picture, why don't you? Ain't it purdy? We can only imagine what it's like with more rain! Checking for pee-mail before leaving some of my own! These falls colors are so pretty... ...that even I have to stop and look for awhile! The results of our walks? Poppa and I passed out!

Back to me!

So yesterday Momma made me post picture of our hike, but not one of them was of me! How rude is that...and it's even my blog! Well, today Momma promised we'd revisit that hike with all the pictures of ME! You remember the photo of one single Red-Wing Blackbird on branches? Well, who do you think spotted him first? Bah! Not Momma!   And then, while she was all busy concentrating on the silly bird, I decided to check out the water. Wes' Momma: What you can't see to well is that he's studded with little bits of duckweed from his dip! After taking forever to get pictures of the bird, we walked on...and then my nose found something interesting on the side of the pathway.... Momma thought my dirty little butt hanging out of the bushes like that was kinda funny...and then I started rolling. Which made her come over very quickly to see the dead turtle I had found. After that she didn't think it was too funny anymore and she made us hurry on. ...

First Spring hiking!

Momma and I had us some fun today...we went for our first hike this year! Momma says it's our first of what she hopes to be many of the same....I hope so too, cause this was lots and lots of fun! For this first hike we headed over to the Delaware Water Gap National recreation area, and initially she wanted to go to a place called Millbrook village. We didn't end up going to Millbrook. Instead, at the almost there point she got distracted by a road veering off to the left that lead to Blue Mountain and Crater lakes. This is where we ended up walking! One of the first things we found, or rather that found us...was this little lady! Can you see her hiding in the trees, staring at us? We almost missed her, she blends in so well. The only way we did see her was because there were a few other deer with her, and those deer had started to run before we even saw them. Momma heard them rustling the leaves as they ran and then viola! There she was. Further on in our hike we e...
