Mom's 'Garden'

Now, Mom doesn't currently have a traditional garden. In our house in PA (a lot of the pictures we post of the nice big, green grassy yard are of my dad's parents house in NJ and not my and Mom's house in PA) there are too many critters who like to snack on plants for any such thing to be a success. So, Mom sticks to having plants on the deck of the house!

As soon as you come to the top of the steps (about...oh...13 of them) you see our front door!

Hello there and welcome to our deck!

It's nothing super special...but Mom tries to dress it up with pretty things. Like the welcome flag, the two mini rose bushes and the hanging basket of superbells.

She loves this basket...the orange and yellow flowers are so pretty! The mini roses she and her mom got from WalMart a month ago, and boy oh boy are they growing well! There are no flowers on them right now (it already flowered once a few weeks ago)...but since Mom was on top of things and plucked off all the dead heads...

We are getting fresh buds! There are currently about three on each plant that Mom can see. Maybe next Friday she'll be able to show you the pretty color of the roses that bloom!

But those aren't all the plants Mom has on the deck. Standing at the top of the stairs, if you turn your head to the right...

You see she has lots more!

Some pretty potted coleus...this plant should also be blooming soon!

She also grows some eatables on the deck!

Some green peppers...

Three pots of cherry tomatoes (her favorites! She loves to snack on them!)...

and some green and yellow zucchini (can you see the baby yellow zucchini!?)

And of course, more flowers.

Like these dahlia with LOTS of buds to bloom again.
And then there's her little corner set-up.

A few dusty miller plants, some dianthus flowers, some delicious basil...

A closer look at the dianthus...aren't they pretty?

She also has a little pot of pretty red geraniums!

((Wes' Mom note:  I know dahlias and geraniums are toxic to dogs...and they would both be gone should Wesley show any interest in them. He has never even stopped to look at any of the plants on the deck. Despite that, when we are on the deck, I DO keep a close eye just in case!))

On the round table Mom has her bowl of more fresh herbs.

Oregano, thyme, parsley and more basil.

And that's pretty much Mom's 'Garden'. Next Friday maybe she'll be able to show you how pretty those roses and the dahlia's bloom!

  9. Hi Wesley and thank you so much for popping over to my blog to wish me a happy blogaversary. OMDS you will never believe this but today my peeps went to a family reunion and OMDS mom told me her cousin has a 15 year old miniature Poodle named Mickey. He was absolutely adorable. Her cousin says he doesn't hear very well but he gets around like a champ and has a darling Poodle prance.
