Wordless Wednesday

No grooming for me today - YIPPEE!

Joining in today with Blogpaws' Wordless Wednesday bloghop!

March 14, 2017

Today Winter Storm Stella came to visit.
Snow covered me!

It started snowing around 10 last night, and continued on all day today until about 3 pm.

We got nearly one-mini poodle high worth of snow.

Honey, you loved snow so if this is you...we miss you but enough with the snow already!

Don't think I'll be doing any exploring outside of the paths that Mom, Dad and Uncle Steve have shoveled for awhile...

One possible good thing? If the roads aren't completely clear tomorrow Mom is going to reschedule my grooming appointment with Aggie.

Cross your paws for me for some still not-clear roads! BOL

Our thanks all our friends for the comments and love sent our way.

We can feel it, and it most definitely helps ease the pain and sadness we are feeling from the unexpected loss of our dearest friend Honey.

Mom isn't ready to share what happened, and she says she may never be so we apologize to Blogville for not sharing anything further.

What we do want everyone to know is that she did not suffer before making the trip over the Rainbow Bridge.

As a matter of fact, we are pretty sure that she's trying to signal to us that she's just fine over there - chasing down chipmunks (she could never catch them here!) , deading all the stuffies, and squeeking all the squeeky toys - by sending us some of her favorite type of weather today.

How could we know,
Oh, dearest friend, that
Now would be the time for goodbye?
Even though you've passed over that bridge
You are forever near in heart.

Signs, signs...everywhere there's signs!

Or so my mom was signing earlier as we were in the yard. I had no idea what she was going on about. I didn't see any signs.

Then she told me, "Wesley! Stop and look by your feet!"

I still really didn't see anything..except for maybe these weird little red nub things sticking out from the ground.

I looked at Mom and asked "These things?"

She excitedly told me "YES!"

She told me then that these little red nubbins were the beginnings of my grandma's peony plants, and one of the signs that spring was getting nearer.

She asked if I could see anymore signs, because once you look hard enough there were more.

So I looked around.

At first I really didn't see much...and then I saw these tiny little leaf buds starting on the Japanese lilac bushes!

And out in the front yard, there were buds on the Rhododendron bushes!

Mom was right....

Signs, signs everywhere there's signs....of spring!

Dr. Seuss

Oh, dear friends here in Blogville
(and other places quite far)
Today is the day which we
honor a star!

Not a star in the sky, no
 he lived here on Earth
writing stories for children
which filled them with mirth.

He gave us The Lorax, The Grinch, and The Whos,
The Cat in that Hat, and Thing One and Thing Two!
There's Mavin K. Mooney, who won't go away
and Horton the Elephant, saving the day.

Oh! The Things You Can Think,
Oh! The Places You'll Go
when you open a book written by...
well, you know!

Much more did he give us,
then what's mentioned here
if I were to continue
I could go on for years!

Dr. Seuss was a man
who proved reading IS fun,
not just for adults
but for everyone!

We're just going to pretend like it's still February for a moment, ok?

...and the reason we're going to do that is so that I don't feel bad that my Chewy review is late! BOL

So today is February, got it?

Most definitely NOT March 1st, like the calendar claims.

So for this month of February mom chose a new tasty thing from Chewy for me and Honey to try. She saw it and, despite everything looking super fun or tasty, knew it was for us for this month.

Our very own pasta, thanks to this bag of Rachael Ray Nutrish Pawsta Beef Stuffed Riggies Recipe Dog Treats.

See, Mom knew this was THE treat for us for this month of FEBRUARY because my Dad very-much shows his Italian heritage when it comes to pasta. He will eat it all day, everyday. Same with his brothers, my uncles Steve and Kevin.

But anyway, that's NOT important stuff to know...what is important is this Pawsta itself!

Mom opens the bag and...a wild Honey appears!

Now before Mom gives anything to Honey and I, she always checks out the ingredients. She's not much a fan of seeing huge, nonsensical words in the list - as a matter of fact if too many appear she won't even get it! So what exactly is in these treats?

  1. Beef, Ground Rice, Pearled Barley, Rye, Vegetable Glycerin, Potato Protein, Brown Rice, Rice Syrup, Tapioca, Brown Sugar, Oatmeal, Gelatin, Water, Flaxseeds, Poultry fat (preserved with Mixed Tocopherols), Natural Flavor, Sunflower Lecithin, Salt, Citric Acid (a preservative), Paprika Extract, Beef Stock, Sorbic Acid (a preservative), Potassium Chloride, Carrot Extract, Titanium Dioxide (color), Rosemary Extract.
Hmmm...not bad...not bad at all! Even I know what pretty much all of that is!

Important as that all is...we all know what the super most important thing is, right?

How do they taste?!

They are a bit chewy, which I really like. I like crunchy treats too...but softer, chewier ones always come number one.

On top of being chewy...they are also just really, really yummy!

Honey and I both enjoyed these Rachael Ray Nutrish Pawsta Beef Stuffed Riggies Recipe Dog Treats very much, and we look forward to eating up the rest of the bag!

(( DISCLAIMER: In exchange for this review of Rachael Ray Nutrish Pawsta Beef Stuffed Riggies Recipe Dog Treats we were given one 4.5oz bag of the above mentioned product free of charge from the pet supply website Beyond that we were in no other way compensated for this posting, and all opinions of the product are 100% honest and of our own. ))

Can we please...

KEEP this weather we've had today for forever?!

76* FEBRUARY in New Jersey! That is just crazy, but just the kinda of crazy I want to keep around! BOL

Remember this 'last of the snow' pile I shared yesterday?

Yup, this snow pile.

Well..this is all that's left of that same snow pile about 24 hours later.

Just the tiniest, itty-bitty, wee-little bit left!

As soon as Mom got home from work today outside we all went to enjoy the weather...and then the greatest thing happened.

Mom looked at me and said something I haven't heard all winter long:

"Wesley, you wanna go for a walk?"

Sweeter words were never said!

So Mom suited me up in my harness...and down the driveway we started.

...annnnd only got about halfway down before Mom had to stop us to take a picture because 'Wesley it is SO GORGEOUS out today!'

There wasn't much to see on the walk...spring hadn't officially arrived yet so everything was still dull and brown and dead (but not really dead) looking. Mom was excited to see that some water fowl had already started to return. One set of canada geese and not one but two pair of mallards were swimming around on the lake.

The mallards. Also, see the house with the blue shutters? That's where we live!

Even if there wasn't much to see, there was plenty Mom and I could hear. Red-winged Blackbirds were calling back and forth, and somewhere up there in the sky there were hawks calling out. Mom spent her walk focusing on the birds and sunshine and breeze...I spent it sniffing and...well...

What?! We haven't walked the lake all winter! I need to let all the other dogs around known I'M still around!

When we got back to the house Mom got Honey's favorite thing ever out and played with her in the yard.

Mom says she feels bad that Honey never goes on walks with us...but she pulls like a tractor and Mom says she would like to keep her arms socketed into her shoulders. had been the kind of day were Mom wishes she could just bottle it up and share it with everywhere here in Blogville. Just perfect!

We are really hoping for more days just like this...AND SOON!

A (photo-heavy!) Recap

Can't believe February is almost already gone. I mean, I know it's a short month and all!

Since my mom has once again been super slack, here's a small recap of all the nothing stuff that has been happening in our little world-bubble.

We had a bit of a winter storm that happened overnight from the 8th to the 9th.

We didn't get as much during this one as we did with last year's Winter Storm Jonas, but we did still get a good amount dumped on us.

There was enough that getting through un-pathed areas for me was a bit of a struggle....

Tongue out for extra oomph-power!

But much longer legged Honey had no issues at all.

She is such a snow-dog!

After the tromping through the snow that day, there was even some hot chocolate for myself and Honey!

Because Valentine's day, Mom got myself and Honey each something new to play with.

I got a plushy, squeeky heart toy, and Honey got a Kong squeeky-crinkly football.

A post shared by Wesley ( on

We both just loved our new toys...however mine did not last more then 6 hours.

NO.  It wasn't ME who did it.

HONEY is the destroyer around here! Mom turned her back to make some dinner, Honey stole my little heart toy and...well...the rest (and the toy itself) is history.

The good news is is that Honey LOVES her Kong toy...and she has NOT yet been able to kill it.

This is both a good and bad thing.

GOOD:  She loves it and it can keep her occupied for a long time.

BAD: Well...this is what happens for hours on end...

A post shared by Wesley ( on

Before the destruction of my little red heart, Mom had made me take some photos with it, with the intent of using them for Valentine's day.

There were actually MANY photos of variousness that were taken with the intent of Valentine's Day...if I hadn't been 'paid' so well in tasty treats and praise I may feel a little more put-out about it! BOL

Valentine's Day came around, and to let my mom know just how much I do love her I made her something VERY special in the snow.

Those have been the not-so major highlights of February.

Mom, Honey and I are have all been excited and happy these past few days because the weather has been gorgeous and warm.

So gorgeous and warm, that nearly all the snow has already melted away.

This is pretty much all that's left (with the exception of a small section in the back-back yard that doesn't get much sun!) of the earlier snowstorm.

This is the snow pile at the top of the driveway from the plow. Or at least what's left of it!

And...well...that's been about it for February!

OH! Except for one more thing. As always the awesome people of Chewy sent us out an email to try something new...THAT review is on it's way.

I just have to get Mom into gear to POST it up....

Tuesday Tweets

Last week on Tuesday we told you about the bird feeders mom put up in the yard. At the end we sort of debated on Tuesday Tweets or Feather Friend Friday.

We decided on Tuesday Tweets since the original post was Tuesday and well...why not just continue on from there?

So here are some of the various birds that have come to entertain us eat at the feeders this past week.
We've had a few handsome blue jays.

A Carolina Wren.

Some Downy Woodpeckers.

A couple of finches.

A lovely lady Cardinal, with her friend the Chickadee.

And, of course, her handsome male counterpart and his friend the Tufted Titmouse.

A Nuthatch.

A Red-Bellied Woodpecker.

Some Mourning doves and juncos.

Mom laughs at this photo. Does that little Junco look like a bird-y security guard to you? 'You wanna get to the doves, you gotta go through me first!

Next week for Tuesday Tweets, mom is debating on having me and Honey pick out one of the species of birds showing up here and having us share some facts about it.

I think it sounds like BOOOORING it may be kinda of fun...maybe...big maybe...

What do my furiends think? Are there any birds in the photos about you think you'd like to know a little about?

New things in the yard

Hey Honey, come here and look at this.

Or don't, I guess...that's ok too...

Mom put something new out in the yard!

Well...a few somethings, really.

Bird feeders...and they are really drawing a crowd!

One cedar seed feeder, one hanging finch feeder, and three types of suet feeders. Yeesh mom!

Look, there's a Juno and some friends hanging out on the seed feeder in the tree,

Hello there, feathered friends!

and some downy headed woodpeckers on the suet feeders,

...or maybe they are hairy woodpeckers? Mom says that both species are so similar, it's hard to tell!

and on the ground some more juncos and LOTS of mourning doves!

All in all, mom counted about a dozen mourning doves scattered around on the ground today!

Since Mom put up the feeders, we have seen all kinds of local wild birds show up for breakfast and dinner. Mom's been taking so many photos, she's thinking of maybe making a weekly post here about the birds. Maybe a Tuesday Tweets post, or a Feather Friend Friday.

Speaking of feathered friends....let's go out and try to meet some of the birds, Honey!

HEY! Where'd everyone go?

Apparently, the birds do not want to meet us as much as we do them.
Oh well.

#ChewyInfulencer time!

Hello Blogville!

Today is a very special's Chewy review day! Being out from blogging for quite awhile, it's also been quite awhile since there's been a review for Mr. Chewy.

Not that the gloriousness of Chewy and all those wonderful people who work for the company had been forgotten about! Miss. Sydney has always been super wonderful, and we all wish to her THE BEST EVER on her new promotion! While those monthly emails from Miss.Sydney will be's super exciting to now get to know and work with Miss. Natalie in this new year!
Speaking of Miss. Natalie...she had quite the list of try-ables for January! Lots of good things, but one thing caught stood out, and that was the Evanger's Gently Dried Treats - to be a bit more specific about it, the Evanger's Nothing But Natural Beef Tripe Gently Dried Treats.

Now, neither Honey nor I have ever in the history of ever had tried beef tripe - we didn't even know what it was! Mom said she knew what it was, and had heard in the past that it's supposed to be something super good for us.
From the back of the bag: There's nothing more than pure beef tripe, which is a unique protein rich in essential fatty acids! Because of the palatability and wholesomeness of these gently dried treats, they are excellent for finicky pets or pets with food sensitivities, as well as for use as a training reward or food mixer.

Mom opened the bag and....oh boy...the smell! DIVINE.

They weren't kidding with the mark on the front proclaiming 'Smelly Belly'.

The treats were all varying lengths, but most seemed to be about the size pictured above.

And now the best part....the taste testing...

Honey wasted absolutely no time in claiming her bit of dried tripe from Mom.

Me, I needed to check it out a bit first. You know, give it a really good sniff over.

Honey, on the other hand, really went to town with her piece! By the time I carefully took my bit from Mom's hand....

Honey was already done and staring down Mom hoping for another piece.

Since she was so eager and seemed to enjoy them so much, Mom obliged.

Meanwhile, I carefully chewed my first piece and really thought about the flavors and texture of this new treat.

Honey for sure gave this treat four paws way up. She loved it! She is a girl who really enjoys a good, stinky treat!

Me, on the other hand....well...I like them. They probably wouldn't be found on my top-ten favorite list, but I could enjoy one now and then I think.

However...seeing how Honey really enjoys them...maybe I'll just be the good little guy I am  and leave them all for her...

Oh...also...before I forgot to mention...this is SPARTA a blog hop! This blog hop is hosted by the most sweetest Sugar the Golden Retriever and the ever adventurous Oz the Terrier.

((Disclaimer: Opinion of these treats is 100% honest and our own. Except for receiving one (1) bag of Evanger's Nothing but Natural Beef Tripe Gently Dried Treats free of charge from the pet-supply website , we were in no other way compensated. ))
