Putting it up!

Last week I made a decision that this year I would surprise Chris' Mom, Donna, but putting up and decorating their Christmas tree. The most important part about that is the 'and decorating' part of it. Before Chris and I started dating and I started to practically live here at their house, Donna survived here with only Honey as the only other female company.

...and what's so bad about that?! Are you saying there's something wrong with BOYS, Momma?

Just her, her husband Jim, and their three boys (Chris, Steve and Kevin)...and none of them are real get-into-the-spirit types.

Their idea of decorating is finally giving in to Donna's request to put the tree up by putting it up (it's artificial) and throwing some net lighting over it.

This year, I thought that Wesley and I would take matters into our own paws and hands.

Ready for assembly, Mom!

It was a tree in three sections, and didn't take long at all to piece together.

...well, that didn't take long at all. Good job!

Then it was time for lights and ornaments. The lights were the stupid light netting, because that's all they have.  Upon futzing with it I sent Chris a text warning him that should he thinks that net lighting is a proper solution once we at some point have our own home...he's in for it from me.

The holidays are the holiday unless you have some good old string lights to curse at as you untangle them! LOL

And here is the complete tree! Only...when taking the picture...silly stupid, excited-about-it me forgot to plug the lights back in. D'OH!

Ta-da! But wait...what about the lights?!

I sent Chris a picture of the finished product and he says he swears that somewhere there are more ornaments, so when he gets back we're going to make a sojourn into the attic to to dig around and see what we can find.

Of these ornaments there was one I came across that I just love.

It looks older, and he's a little broken on that left arm (on the backside where you can't see) but there was something about it. When Donna gets back later, I plan on asking her about it.

  3. Wesley directed the tree festivity very well! We are not decorators so we only do it once and just cover with a sheet the rest of the year.
